How Do I Carry Out a Self Survey?
If Bristol Bifold are installing your doors, then the survey will be carried out for you by us.
If you require supply-only doors you can either book a time for one of our surveyors to come out and do the survey, or you can survey the door opening yourself.
You can find instructions on how to do this below.
1. Measure the diagonals from corner to corner. This will tell you whether or not your hole is square. If the two measurements are equal the hole is square.
2. Measure the width of the hole in three places. Take the smallest measurement and deduct 10mm, this will give you the measurement of your doors.
3. Measure the height in three places, take the smallest measurement again and deduct 10mm. Now you have the height of your new doors. |
NOTE: Don't forget, if you are going to make the threshold flush with your inside floor level, then you need to sink part of the frame below the finished floor level. This amount differs depending on which door you are having and which type of threshold you have chosen.
The PDF drawings for each door threshold can be found on the bifold door product pages. Alternatively call one of our friendly advisers who will guide you through this and any other questions you may have regarding surveys.
